Gentlemen,

With reference to your letter No. W/Hong Kong 8508

of 5th May, 1939, regarding the proposed statue of His Majesty King George VI to be erected in Hong Kong for the Centenary Celebrations to be held in January, 1941, I am directed to inform you that it has been decided to accept the offer of Mr. Gilbert Ledward, R.A., as set out in paragraph 4 of your letter under

reference.

2.

It is considered that His Majesty should be represented as wearing the Robes of State, as worn at the opening of Parliament, over the uniform of an Admiral, and that the robes should be thrown back to a certain extent in order to reveal

the figure beneath.

3.

Samples of the granite and local stone to be used for

the canopy are being forwarded separately.

I am,

etc.
